Additional Charges

Our projects can quickly become quite labor-intensive. Additional charges can be incurred under the following conditions:

  • Project Area Size over 1/4 acre: The total area browsing/grazing charge includes the livestock herd assigned to your project as well as daily check-in visits by a human during the duration of your project. If there is no natural shade/weather protection available, this will also be provided. Water troughs and mineral blocks are also provided.

  • Project Area Vegetation Density: Low, Medium or High. The denser the vegetation/brush/vines/trees the longer it will take for our goats to munch it down. We do not charge per day but we do account for a longer duration due to density/trees in our overall browsing/grazing charge.

  • Electro-Netting Alley Setup: When direct access to the grazing site by a pickup truck and trailer is not available, we will need to setup a temporary electro-netting alley to get the goats from the trailer to the first grazing paddock. This needs to happen again on pickup day.

  • Electro-Netting Paddock Setup: When we need to provide temporary solar electro-netting paddocks to complete your project. Charges include the actual number of paddocks needed plus creating a perimeter path (trampling and/or weed-wacking) so existing vegetation doesn’t short out the netting.

  • Grazing Area Exclusions: When your site has areas within it that you wish to exclude from being grazed or there are pockets of vegetation harmful to our livestock that we can’t bypass using paddocks, these areas need to be protected. We will encourage you to do this yourself to remove cost/liability, but if you are unable to FBG will provide this service.

  • Water Delivery: When your project site has no water available it will need to be trucked in. You can DIY to eliminate this charge.

  • Water Hauling: When your project includes paddocks located too far from the water source, we will haul water to the paddocks during our day checks of your site. This is not a DIY item as only FBG personnel are authorized to enter paddocks where our livestock is grazing.

Project Duration Estimate

  • We will provide you with an estimate on the duration of your project based upon the total project acreage, vegetation density, livestock size and quantity. This is only an estimate! You are not charged by the day but by acreage, density of vegetation, and the labor involved to complete your project.

  • There are conditions that impact the speed of the livestock once on site that we can’t control such as weather conditions and vegetation variation. Livestock are animals and therefore unpredictable. Past project data is leveraged when calculating your duration estimate but please be aware it’s an estimate only. Your project may go faster or slower depending on many conditions we can’t control. And no two projects are alike!

Other Pricing Considerations

  • Project Deposit

    • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book our services and schedule your project.

  • Discounts

    • Repeat grazing projects on the same area are discounted. The more often our goats maintain your site the less time it will take!

Each site differs in vegetation density and complexity, seasonality (our peak period is from March through July), terrain, density and type of brush, availability of water sources, and ease of access to the clearing site all influence pricing.

Micro-Grazing Minimum Charge

Our smallest and least labor-intensive projects are $850 under these conditions:

  • Project site is within our service territory

  • Access for the pickup truck and stock trailer to deliver/pickup goats to the site is direct

  • Fencing exists and is acceptable/safe for our goats and there are no exclusion areas

  • Water is available on site

  • Project area is 1/4 acre or less

  • Project area is mostly weeds and/or plants vs. dense brush (low to medium density)
