About.

Fallbrook Brush Goats (FBG) was founded in 2023 by owner/operator Carolyn Evans in Fallbrook CA. Carolyn already had a passion for practical conservation, sustainable agriculture, and rural living. Building a home in rural Fallbrook facilitated learning the challenges of residing in a high fire hazard severity zone. The search began in 2021 for a practical and sustainable way to protect her new home, maintain state and county fire regulatory compliance, manage the vegetation on her acreage, and clear a portion of it. Goats were a logical choice and super cute. Sharing her knowledge and experience by helping other homeowners and businesses in the area with the same challenges seemed a logical progression and much needed local service, and so FBG was born.

We provide economic and social value through eco-friendly and sustainable targeted micro-grazing. Our services build up soil health, reduce grass fire potential, minimize carbon footprint, replace herbicide applications and are less damaging than CO2-spewing equipment.

FBG is a local affiliate of Goats On The Go®. Their growing national network of fellow affiliates serve as a tight-knit support group sharing vast knowledge, best practices, and innovative ideas and solutions with the entire group. This work is not easy, and it really does take a village!

Our Amazing Island Goats

FBG uses San Clemente Island goats. The SCI goat is a genetically distinct breed and is listed as a critically endangered heritage breed on the Conservation Priority List by The Livestock Conservancy. In 2020, their global population was about 1400. They originated from San Clemente Island California, but now live on the mainland U.S.A. and in Canada. They are great browsers and we are thrilled to be able to support this endangered breed and evangelize their special qualities to the general public as part of our work.

Our Amazing Island Sheep

FBG uses British Soay sheep. This ancient British breed descends from feral populations on Scotland's St. Kilda archipelago and is ideal for eco-friendly residential and vineyard grazing programs due to their smaller size. British Soay are listed as a threatened heritage breed on the Conservation Priority List by The Livestock Conservancy. They are great grazers and foragers, and we are thrilled to be able to support this endangered breed and evangelize their special qualities to the general public as part of our work.

FBG uses St. Croix sheep. The St. Croix is a North American sheep breed that’s part of the Caribbean Hair sheep family. Their browsing ability makes them extremely useful for land management, including mowing grass in orchards and vineyards, and the control of invasive pest plants.
